A SIM card for Trinidad and Tobago can provide more than internet access: local calling service may be useful when arranging accommodation, transport or excursions. bmobile has a tourist SIM registration process, while Digicel advertises tourist eSIM plans with data, minutes and local SMS. Choose the service you need before deciding where to buy it.
Your arrival island changes the practical buying options. Official lists include retailers in Trinidad, a duty-free location at Piarco Airport, and shops in Scarborough, Canaan and Shirvan Plaza on Tobago. Those listings help you plan an enquiry, but they do not guarantee stock or service at your arrival time.
Our NoveSIM travel eSIMs provide data without a Trinidad and Tobago telephone number, conventional calls or SMS. We do not provide the same voice service as a local calling SIM. Internet messaging and calling apps can use the data connection.
Quick answer: Compare bmobile and Digicel if you need ordinary telephone calls or a local number. Digicel advertises a seven-day tourist eSIM with 28 GB and 150 Anywhere Minutes at TT$200 including tax. bmobile’s tourist registration form requires identification and a document photo, alongside personal and SIM details; its complete tourist purchase price was not confirmed. For maps and app messages without a retail visit, compare a compatible travel eSIM with your home roaming terms.

Physical SIM, local eSIM or data-only travel plan?
These are three different choices, not simply three names for the same product. A physical SIM needs a usable card slot. A local operator eSIM needs compatible hardware and may include a telephone service. A travel eSIM can supply data without a local number. The presence of an eSIM profile does not tell you which calls are included.
Ask your transfer provider or accommodation whether communication will be through WhatsApp or an ordinary telephone call. If you need to ring local businesses from the phone dialler, check a voice-inclusive offer. If your bookings are managed through apps, a data plan may meet the requirement without registering a new local calling line.
For the data-only option, see our current Trinidad and Tobago eSIM plans. Compare validity and allowance, then account for any local SIM fee, registration steps and shop visit in the alternative. Do not assume that a home-network Caribbean roaming allowance includes Trinidad and Tobago: verify the destination explicitly.
Digicel offers tourist eSIMs with different trip lengths
The official Digicel Trinidad and Tobago tourist page, checked on 11 October 2026, advertises the following plans. The data amounts are not proportional to duration: the shortest plan displays more data than the seven-day option.
| Advertised duration | General-use data | Anywhere Minutes | Displayed TT-dollar price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | 30 GB | 100 | TT$125, tax included |
| 7 days | 28 GB | 150 | TT$200, tax included |
| 14 days | 42 GB | 200 | TT$250, tax included |
| 30 days | 25 GB | 300 | TT$365, tax included |
Free Digicel minutes and local SMS are also listed. Before relying on Anywhere Minutes to call home, confirm the included destinations and any exclusions for special numbers. The label is not evidence that every country or every telephone number is covered.
Digicel describes the tourist eSIM itself as free when purchasing a plan and says it is emailed after selection and registration. That does not make the service free, remove registration requirements or establish when the allowance starts. Check the validity trigger before purchasing significantly ahead of travel.
The same page displays separate US-dollar prices. Use the price and currency shown for your actual purchase; do not treat the two published figures as a guaranteed exchange-rate calculation. Nor should these tourist eSIM terms be assumed to apply to a physical SIM bought at a retailer.
bmobile has a specific tourist registration form
The bmobile tourist SIM page asks you to have the device and SIM available before registering. Its form requires the new bmobile telephone number, SIM number, name, address and city, email, date of birth and identification details. It also requires an uploaded photograph of the identification document.
Passport, National Identification and Driver’s Permit are shown as identification choices. A passport is therefore a stated option, but the process is not merely showing it at a shop. Confirm how a foreign visitor should enter an address and which details the retailer completes before you start.
The page also contains general prepaid and postpaid material. That material should not be mistaken for the full price and allowance of a tourist starter package. We have not confirmed a sufficiently clear current all-in bmobile tourist SIM price to quote here.
Ask for the package name, SIM charge, initial allowance and expiry together. If the offer requires a separate top-up or bundle purchase after registration, include that in your comparison. A low card price without usable service is not the cost of getting connected.
Where to buy a SIM card in Trinidad or on Tobago
bmobile’s tourist SIM location list names Cellmaster Limited, Duty Free, Piarco International Airport, along with retailers at Trincity Mall, Westmall, Gulf City Mall and other Trinidad locations. On Tobago, it lists Cellular Planet in Scarborough and Rollocks in Canaan.
That bmobile FAQ was published in February 2024. Its continued availability is useful evidence of a published sales list, not confirmation that every location still stocks the offer today. Contact the retailer before building your arrival around it, especially if you arrive late or need a particular SIM format.
The Digicel store locator also lists a Piarco International Airport location. Other listed options include Excellent City Centre in Port of Spain and an Experience Store at Shirvan Plaza, Shirvan Road, Tobago. Digicel’s contact page additionally names flagship stores at Trinicity Mall and C3 Centre.
For Tobago, the Scarborough, Canaan and Shirvan listings give you mainland-independent enquiry options; you do not need to assume a purchase must happen in Trinidad. However, none of those addresses establishes a counter at Tobago’s airport, nor does it prove coverage at a particular beach or accommodation.
At Piarco, ask whether the listed counter is accessible from your arrival route and open when you pass through. A duty-free listing alone does not establish public access from every terminal area. Save your transfer contact and first address offline so that a closed counter does not disrupt the journey.
Digicel Starter Kit identification rules are product-specific
Digicel publishes detailed SIM Starter Kit FAQs. They distinguish buying the card from activating it: an authorised third-party sale may not require identification at the point of purchase, but ID must be submitted during activation.
For that Starter Kit, Digicel specifies a valid, unexpired photo ID, with Passport, National ID and Driver’s Licence listed. A valid email address is required, and the customer must be at least 18. The kit assigns a new telephone number; it is not a way to recover an existing number.
Those are documented physical Starter Kit conditions. We have not established that the online tourist eSIM uses precisely the same registration workflow. Follow the requirements for the product you actually select, and submit documents only through the operator’s verified channel.
The Starter Kit FAQ also describes an initial 30-day SIM life cycle that can be extended by top-up. Do not confuse that account life cycle with 30 days of included data. The purchased bundle has its own allowance and validity.
Confirm the service before leaving the shop
- Explain whether you want a physical SIM or eSIM, and whether ordinary calls are essential.
- Confirm visitor eligibility, required documents, full price and the currency charged.
- Ask when the plan starts, how to check the remaining allowance and how renewal or top-up works.
- With Wi-Fi off, test a small data request. If you purchased calls, test an appropriate local number as well.
- Keep the receipt, registration confirmation and instructions for getting support.
Test the service you paid for, rather than stopping at signal bars. A connected phone may still lack an active data bundle or the right allowance for the call you want to make. Resolve those issues while the retailer can check the account.
If you prefer to arrange travel data before flying
First check your exact model and regional version against our eSIM-compatible device information, and ensure the handset can use another provider. A physical SIM slot does not establish eSIM support, and eSIM support does not establish that a carrier-locked phone accepts your chosen service.
Read how eSIM installation works and use the instructions supplied with your NoveSIM purchase. Install over a stable internet connection, then select the travel line for mobile data when you intend to use it. Enable roaming on that line as instructed; keep home-line data roaming off unless you deliberately plan to use your home allowance.
Keeping a home SIM enabled may help with incoming messages, but does not make its calls or roaming free. Review those charges separately. Local reception, speed and hotspot availability depend on the plan, device and conditions; no plan promises an uninterrupted connection throughout both islands.

FAQ
Can I buy a tourist SIM on Tobago?
bmobile’s published list names Cellular Planet in Scarborough and Rollocks in Canaan. Digicel lists an Experience Store at Shirvan Plaza. Confirm current tourist-SIM stock, registration services and opening hours directly before visiting.
Are SIM cards listed at Piarco Airport?
Yes. bmobile names Cellmaster Limited, Duty Free, Piarco International Airport, and Digicel lists an airport location. Check access, hours and the product available; neither listing guarantees a purchase at every arrival time.
What does bmobile require for tourist registration?
Its online form requires personal and address details, email, date of birth, SIM and telephone numbers, identification details and an uploaded document photograph. Passport is one listed identification option. Confirm the address requirements for an overseas visitor.
Does a NoveSIM plan include the calls in Digicel’s tourist offer?
No. They are different products. Our NoveSIM travel plans provide data without a local number, conventional calls or SMS. Digicel advertises calling allowances on its own tourist eSIMs, subject to its terms.
Final Recommendation
For a local SIM card in Trinidad and Tobago, compare the exact bmobile or Digicel offer and complete the appropriate registration. Digicel’s tourist eSIM has published plan prices; bmobile’s full tourist purchase cost still needs confirmation. Do not substitute an ordinary prepaid or postpaid table for that missing price.
If app communication and mobile data are sufficient, compare our travel plans before departure. Confirm compatibility and follow your purchase instructions, without expecting a local number from a data-only eSIM.
Use the retailer listings to plan where to enquire on your arrival island, and keep your first journey independent of store opening hours. A tested connection and clear renewal instructions are more useful than choosing solely by the largest advertised allowance.
