SIM Cards in Grenada: Local Shops, Costs and Travel eSIMs

Buying a SIM card in Grenada involves two decisions: which service you need, and whether you can obtain it conveniently during your stay. Flow and Digicel advertise local prepaid options, but a bundle price alone does not tell an overseas visitor the total cost or the documents needed to open a new account.

Digicel lists shops around St George’s, in Grenville and on Carriacou. That gives you places to enquire about a physical SIM, rather than relying on an unconfirmed airport counter. If you only need maps and app-based messages, an online travel eSIM is another option to compare before departure.

Our NoveSIM travel eSIMs are data-only. We do not provide a Grenadian phone number, conventional calls or SMS with these plans. WhatsApp and other internet messaging or calling apps can use the data connection.

Quick answer: For ordinary local calls or a phone that needs a physical SIM, ask a Flow or Digicel branch about a new visitor account. Flow lists a new prepaid SIM at EC$15, separate from its data bundles; Digicel lists a seven-day, 20 GB prepaid bundle at EC$35 including tax. Confirm registration, the complete purchase price and calling terms before paying. For data without a shop visit, compare a compatible travel eSIM and your home network’s Grenada roaming terms.

A local number matters only if you will use it

A restaurant’s telephone number and its WhatsApp contact are not interchangeable. A data-only plan can support a WhatsApp conversation, but it does not supply ordinary dialler calls to that restaurant. If your accommodation, boat operator or rental company expects telephone calls, a voice-inclusive local SIM may be useful.

Before choosing, check how the people handling your bookings want to be contacted. You may find that app messages cover most arrangements, or that you need a local calling allowance throughout the trip. Do not buy a large data bundle to solve a calling requirement it does not include.

If data is your main requirement, view the current NoveSIM Grenada eSIM plans. Compare their validity and allowance with the full local-SIM cost, not just the amount displayed on a prepaid bundle card. Your home roaming package also deserves a check: Grenada must be explicitly included, rather than assumed to fall within a general Caribbean allowance.

Flow separates the SIM price from its prepaid bundles

The Flow Grenada prepaid page, checked on 11 October 2026, lists a prepaid SIM with a new telephone number for EC$15. It also displays the following data amounts and bundle prices:

Advertised data Displayed bundle price What still needs checking
4 GB EC$6 Exact validity and complete initial purchase cost
10 GB EC$14 Exact validity and included calling destinations
18 GB EC$27 Exact validity and any renewal conditions
40 GB EC$105 Exact validity and any restrictions on unlimited calls

EC$ and XCD refer to East Caribbean dollars, not US dollars. Flow’s page says prices are VAT-inclusive unless otherwise stated and that included data is for local usage. It also states that prepaid customers must maintain a minimum EC$1 balance to access the described services.

Do not treat EC$27 as a confirmed all-in price for a visitor starting from scratch. Ask whether the EC$15 SIM charge applies to your purchase, whether any credit is included, and how much balance you must load to activate the chosen bundle. The published cards do not provide a complete visitor checkout calculation.

The calling descriptions also differ between cards. Some say unlimited calls without clearly defining every destination in the card text. Have the shop distinguish calls within Flow, calls to other Grenadian networks and international calls. Those differences can matter more than a few extra gigabytes.

Digicel’s tourist eSIM is not the same as ordinary prepaid

The Digicel Grenada prepaid page lists a seven-day bundle with 20 GB of general-use data for XCD35, including tax. This is a bundle offer, not confirmation that a new SIM, registration and initial service together cost XCD35.

Digicel separately advertises a Caribbean tourist eSIM with 10 GB and 30 days of validity for US$40, also shown as XCD109 including tax. That may suit a different itinerary from a seven-day local bundle. Confirm the exact covered countries and when validity begins before choosing it for several islands.

There is a reason not to reproduce every tourist package in a comparison table: another card is titled 5 GB, while its description says 10 GB. Ask Digicel to confirm the actual allowance before purchasing that option. A product heading and a contradictory description cannot both be treated as reliable specifications.

The tourist page promotes eSIM service; it does not establish that a physical SIM has identical terms. Nor should the calls shown on ordinary prepaid offers be carried across to the tourist eSIM. If a local number or voice allowance is essential, get explicit confirmation for the exact product you intend to buy.

Where Digicel lists shops in Grenada

The official Digicel store locator lists these locations. Phone ahead to check new-SIM availability, visitor eligibility and the day’s opening hours; a listed branch is not a stock guarantee.

Listed location Published address Telephone
The Cell Melville Street Corner of Melville Street and Granby +1 473 435 4950
The Cell Grenville Ben Jones Street, Grenville +1 473 438 4020 / +1 473 415 1755
The Cell Spiceland Mall Spiceland Mall, Morne Rouge, St George +1 473 423 2355
Digicel Carriacou Hillsborough +1 473 415 0037

Choose a branch that fits your plans rather than making a special journey before checking its services. Someone staying around Morne Rouge can enquire at Spiceland Mall; a visitor going to Grenville has a separately listed contact there. The Hillsborough listing is useful for an enquiry on Carriacou, but it does not establish reception at every location on that island.

We have not confirmed an official SIM sales counter at Maurice Bishop International Airport. Keep your transfer details and accommodation address available offline so that buying a SIM is not a prerequisite for finding your driver.

Flow’s Grenada store finder returned a Jamaican location during the search used for this guide. Those results are excluded here. Obtain a current Grenada branch address from Flow directly, and ask specifically about issuing a new prepaid mobile SIM rather than accepting bill payments or selling home broadband.

What registration documents should you prepare?

The public operator pages checked do not establish a complete, current registration checklist for foreign tourists buying a new SIM. Carrying your passport is sensible preparation, but passport-only registration is not confirmed here. Ask the selected branch what identification it accepts and whether it needs any additional information.

Flow’s mobile-service conditions refer to a registration or service application form and proof of identity when restoring service after loss, theft or damage. That is not a sufficiently specific explanation of first-time tourist registration.

Similarly, Digicel’s government-issued ID wording appears within a switching promotion. Requirements for an existing local customer transferring networks are not necessarily the requirements for an overseas visitor opening a new account. Do not assume the promotion or its eligibility rules apply to you.

  1. Tell the branch you are an overseas visitor seeking a new prepaid SIM, not a number transfer.
  2. Confirm accepted documents, available physical SIM or eSIM formats, and the full initial cost.
  3. Ask when the allowance expires, how renewal works and whether credit is needed outside the bundle.
  4. Before leaving, test mobile data with Wi-Fi off and, if purchased, an ordinary local call. Keep the receipt and top-up instructions.

Check your phone before arranging either option

A local physical SIM needs an available SIM slot and a phone that can use another operator. A travel eSIM needs eSIM support as well as an unlocked handset. Check your exact model and regional version against our compatible-device information; do not rely only on the model family name.

If you choose NoveSIM, read how an eSIM works before installation and follow the instructions supplied with your purchase. Use a stable internet connection to install the profile. On arrival, select it for mobile data and enable data roaming on that travel line as instructed, while keeping home-SIM data roaming off unless you deliberately intend to use it.

Coverage, speed and hotspot availability depend on the selected plan, device and local conditions. Neither a prepaid allowance nor a shop address promises reception on a boat, inside every building or along your entire itinerary. Save essential bookings before moving somewhere you may lose service.

FAQ

How much does a new Flow SIM cost in Grenada?

Flow lists a prepaid SIM with a new telephone number at EC$15. Its advertised data bundles are separate. Confirm included credit, the selected bundle and any minimum balance before calculating your total purchase cost.

Where can I enquire about a Digicel SIM?

Digicel lists The Cell locations at Melville Street, Grenville and Spiceland Mall, plus a Hillsborough branch on Carriacou. Contact the branch to confirm it can issue the SIM you need and register an overseas visitor.

Is a passport enough to register a tourist SIM?

A complete passport-only rule was not confirmed in the official Grenada material checked. Bring your passport, but ask the operator for the accepted documents and visitor eligibility requirements before visiting.

Can a NoveSIM Grenada eSIM replace a local calling SIM?

Not if you need conventional calls or SMS. Our travel eSIMs supply data without a Grenadian number. Internet calling and messaging apps can use that data; ordinary telephone calls require another suitable service.

Final Recommendation

Choose a local SIM when a physical card or ordinary calling service is important, but confirm registration and the complete cost with the branch first. Flow’s separate SIM charge and Digicel’s distinction between prepaid and tourist eSIM offers make headline bundle prices an incomplete comparison.

For maps and app-based communication without arranging a shop visit, compare our Grenada data plans with your home roaming allowance. Check compatibility and validity before purchase rather than assuming every Caribbean-labelled plan covers the same destinations.

Keep the first transfer details offline and test your connection once service is active. That leaves your arrival in Grenada independent of an unconfirmed airport counter or a last-minute registration problem.
