Internet access in Tirana is straightforward in central areas, but visitors still need to decide whether roaming, a local SIM or an eSIM fits the arrival time and wider Albania itinerary.
Quick answer: Use an eSIM for data ready on arrival, a local SIM when an Albanian number or domestic package matters, and home roaming only after checking whether Albania is included. Do not assume EU roaming covers Albania.

An Albania eSIM can be installed before departure. A local prepaid SIM may offer a number and shop assistance, while hotel or café Wi-Fi is better treated as supplementary access rather than the only connection.
Airport arrival and city transfer
Save the accommodation address, pickup instructions and first route before leaving the terminal. If buying locally, compare the options in the Tirana Airport SIM guide. Test data without Wi-Fi before beginning the transfer.
EU roaming does not automatically apply
Albania is not in the EU/EEA roam-like-at-home area. Some operators include it voluntarily, while others charge a pass or out-of-zone rate. Confirm the tariff in writing before enabling roaming on the home SIM.
Prepare for travel beyond Tirana
City reception does not guarantee the same experience in mountain areas or on rural roads. Download maps, tickets and accommodation details before day trips. NoveSIM plans are data-only; we do not provide an Albanian number, conventional calls or SMS.
FAQ
Is mobile internet available in Tirana?
Yes, though indoor reception and network performance vary by location and conditions.
Does EU roaming work in Albania?
It is not guaranteed under EU rules. Check whether your individual operator includes Albania.

Is public Wi-Fi enough?
It may help at a venue but cannot provide continuous access during transfers and day trips.
Final Recommendation
Prepare eSIM for immediate data or choose a local SIM for number-based needs. Confirm roaming terms explicitly and keep offline directions for travel outside Tirana.
