A SIM card at Cancun Airport can provide data after landing, but seller availability, plans and prices may change. Compare the full offer before buying rather than choosing only for convenience.
The practical requirement is a working connection for the resort or city transfer. An eSIM can be installed beforehand, while airport Wi-Fi is only a temporary fallback.
NoveSIM Mexico plans are data-only and do not provide a Mexican number, conventional calls or SMS. Messaging and calling apps work through data.
Quick answer: Before buying an airport SIM, confirm the final price, data allowance, validity, activation and registration. If you want data ready for the transfer, prepare a Mexico eSIM before departure.

Compare physical SIM and eSIM
A local SIM may suit travellers needing a Mexican number. An eSIM keeps the home SIM in place and avoids an arrival purchase. Review the Mexico eSIM guide.
Save the exact onward transfer
Store the hotel or resort name, full address and pickup instructions. Use the offline navigation guide for the first route.
Set up the travel line
Select the eSIM for data, enable roaming when required and use APN data.esim if needed. Keep the home line from using roaming data and follow the arrival activation steps.
