Iceland eSIM on iPhone: Set the Data Line Correctly

An Iceland eSIM on iPhone works cleanly when the travel profile is assigned to Cellular Data and the primary line is prevented from taking data back through Cellular Data Switching.

This page assumes the eSIM already appears under Settings. If it does not, installation—not Iceland network configuration—is the unfinished task.

NoveSIM provides data only. iMessage, FaceTime and other internet apps can use that connection, while carrier calls and SMS remain attached to the relevant telephone line and its roaming terms.

Quick answer: In Settings → Cellular or Mobile Service, switch the Iceland line on, choose it under Cellular Data, enable Data Roaming for that line and turn Allow Cellular Data Switching off.

Configure the Installed Profile

  1. Open Settings → Cellular or Mobile Service.
  2. Tap the travel profile and label it Iceland if the current name is unclear.
  3. Turn the line on and enable Data Roaming inside that line’s settings.
  4. Return one level, open Cellular Data and select Iceland.
  5. Turn Allow Cellular Data Switching off.
  6. Switch Wi-Fi off temporarily and load a normal webpage.

For the earlier QR-code stage, use the NoveSIM iPhone installation guide. The separate Iceland activation sequence explains timing and first registration.

Keep the Primary Number Without Losing Control

The primary line can remain on for incoming calls and SMS if the iPhone supports the required Dual SIM combination. That does not make those services free: the home operator decides roaming call and message charges. Review the Dual SIM line-assignment guide before relying on authentication texts or answering calls.

Apple services can associate addresses and numbers in ways that differ from carrier SMS. Check “Send & Receive” settings only if a messaging identity changes; do not alter them merely because mobile data moved to the Iceland line.

If the iPhone Has Signal but No Data

Confirm Cellular Data still points to Iceland after a restart. If the profile is registered and the APN field is available but empty, use data.esim according to the NoveSIM APN guide. Some iPhones hide carrier-managed APN fields; do not delete the profile to expose the menu.

Continue with symptom-led troubleshooting and preserve the installed eSIM unless NoveSIM Support instructs removal.

FAQ

Should Cellular Data Switching be on?

Turn it off when you want the Iceland eSIM to be the only mobile-data line. Otherwise iPhone may use the primary line when availability changes.

Can my primary number remain active?

Usually yes on a compatible Dual SIM iPhone, but calls and SMS remain subject to the primary operator’s roaming terms.

Final Recommendation

Give the Iceland profile a clear label and assign it explicitly under Cellular Data.

Enable roaming on the travel line, disable data switching and protect the primary line from unintended data use.

Test with Wi-Fi off, then stop changing settings once the intended line loads data.
