Mobile internet in Guadeloupe may already be included in your home plan. Before buying a local SIM or travel eSIM, check Guadeloupe by name in your provider’s destination list and find the data allowance attached to your exact tariff.
The useful comparison is not simply roaming versus eSIM. It is the cost of using what you already have against the full cost and purchase conditions of a new connection. A large domestic allowance does not necessarily become the same allowance abroad, and a local recharge price does not include a new SIM unless the seller says so.
If your existing service is unsuitable, we offer Guadeloupe travel eSIM data plans. These are data-only: no local telephone number, traditional calls or SMS are included. They can supply internet access for messaging and navigation without a local SIM purchase, on a compatible unlocked device.
Quick answer: Check included Guadeloupe roaming first. If it provides enough usable data without extra charges, you may not need another plan. Otherwise, compare a local prepaid SIM with a travel eSIM, accounting for registration, SIM cost, allowance and validity. Orange Caraïbe publishes Card data recharges, SFR Caraïbe offers La Carte prepaid service, and Digicel has separate prepaid registration terms. Visitor eligibility is not fully confirmed for every option.

Check mobile internet in Guadeloupe on your existing plan
Ask your provider a specific question: how much data can your current line use in Guadeloupe, on these travel dates, and what happens after that allowance? A general statement that the network supports roaming there is not enough.
- Find Guadeloupe in the destination checker for your exact plan, including whether you are prepaid or on a monthly contract.
- Check the available roaming data, any daily activation charge and whether a pass must be purchased first.
- Confirm what happens after the allowance: blocked data, reduced speed or additional charges.
- Check calls separately, especially calls to destinations outside the included zone.
- Save the terms or provider confirmation before departure, and read the arrival tariff message before enabling home-line roaming.
Do not infer coverage from a package labelled France, Europe or Caribbean. This applies both to home-provider tariffs and to travel eSIM destination lists. Look for Guadeloupe explicitly.
Included roaming has plan-specific exceptions
SFR France’s official assistance includes Guadeloupe in its UE/DOM zone. It explains that mobile data can come from the domestic allowance or a separate roaming allowance, depending on the plan. Extra use may be blocked or charged; included destination status is not a promise of unlimited data.
There is also a prepaid exception: SFR France says La Carte customers cannot use mobile internet abroad except with the Welcome recharge. Its guidance discusses reasonable use over four consecutive months, which matters more for extended stays than a short holiday. Check your own account rather than applying a monthly-plan rule to prepaid. SFR France UE/DOM roaming guidance
SFR France and SFR Caraïbe are not interchangeable tariff names. The former example describes travelling with a home line; the latter sells local services. Similarly, there is no single UK roaming price we can apply to every visitor. Your provider, tariff and included extras determine the charge.
Local prepaid: compare the whole purchase
| Option | Published information | Still to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Orange Caraïbe Card | Data recharges include 2GB for 10 days at €5 and 10GB for 30 days at €15. | New SIM cost, current visitor registration requirements and purchase availability. |
| SFR Caraïbe La Carte | Prepaid service without subscription or automatic bank debit; separate data options are advertised. | Starter price, visitor documents and whether the available data suits your usage. |
| Digicel Carte | Separate prepaid contractual terms describe identification and signed documents. | Acceptance of non-EU visitor documents and the current starter offer. |
For each operator, ask for the combined SIM and usable-data price. Find out when the allowance expires, how to check the balance and whether unused credit has a different validity from the data bundle.
Orange Card recharges are not tourist starter packs
Orange Caraïbe’s current recharge page lists Card-compatible internet options, including 2GB for ten days at €5, 10GB for 30 days at €15 and 40GB for 60 days at €50. These are additions to an eligible mobile line. A visitor who does not already have one must also establish how to buy and register the SIM. Orange Caraïbe mobile recharges
Orange lists data validity and telephone-number validity separately. Keeping a number active does not mean the purchased data lasts for the same period. Match the data expiry to your stay, particularly if you plan to top up only once.
The Card registration document found during our check dates from 2012. It is not sufficient evidence of the full current tourist procedure. Confirm accepted identification, any address information and the actual starter cost with the intended shop. We have not verified a dedicated airport sales counter for this article.
SFR Caraïbe and Digicel: registration needs checking
SFR Caraïbe advertises La Carte as a prepaid service with calls, SMS and internet, without a subscription or automatic bank debit. Its published additional-data options include 600MB valid for ten days at €10. Check the offer at purchase and do not mistake a welcome credit balance for an included data bundle. SFR Caraïbe La Carte
Its separate monthly data products should not automatically be presented as tourist prepaid offers. We have not confirmed a complete current visitor registration checklist or a total new-SIM price for La Carte.
Digicel’s prepaid terms from April 2025 require identification and completed contractual documents. Their listed examples include EU identity cards, EU passports, EU driving licences and residence permits. That wording does not establish acceptance of a UK or other non-EU passport alone. Ask Digicel to confirm your eligibility before planning around a local purchase. Digicel Carte terms
Do not transfer the bank-account and local-address requirements of an operator’s monthly subscription to its prepaid product without checking the relevant terms. Conversely, a prepaid label does not prove that visitors can buy without identification.
When a travel eSIM is worth the extra purchase
A travel eSIM becomes useful when your home roaming is expensive, insufficient or unavailable, and you prefer to arrange data before departure. If the home plan already meets your needs, buying another connection merely duplicates the service.
Before choosing NoveSIM, check your phone’s eSIM support and confirm it is unlocked. Compare the selected plan’s allowance and validity with your actual trip; hotspot and network performance depend on the plan, device and local conditions.
Install while connected to stable internet and follow the supplied activation instructions, including when the validity period starts. Once in Guadeloupe, select the travel eSIM for mobile data and enable roaming on that line if instructed. Test a map or message with Wi-Fi off.
You can often retain your existing SIM alongside a travel eSIM. Keep home-line data roaming disabled if you have chosen not to use it, and prevent automatic data switching where available. Traditional calls or SMS on that home line remain governed by its roaming tariff.
Keep the choice simple on arrival
If using included roaming, check the arrival message and remaining allowance before starting a large download. If buying locally, have staff confirm registration and test data before leaving the shop. If using a travel eSIM, check that it is selected for data rather than assuming installation selected the correct line.
Save accommodation details and essential booking information offline. Hotel Wi-Fi can help with setup, but you should not depend on finding an open sales counter or a working public connection immediately after arrival.

FAQ
Do I need another SIM if my plan includes Guadeloupe?
Not necessarily. If your exact tariff includes enough data for the trip without an extra charge, you may use it instead. Confirm the roaming allowance, any daily fee and the rules after the allowance runs out.
Does a France or Europe eSIM automatically cover Guadeloupe?
No inclusion should be assumed from the package name. Check that Guadeloupe appears in the selected plan’s destination list before purchase.
Can a tourist buy Orange Card using only a passport?
We have not confirmed the complete current visitor requirements. Ask the operator about accepted ID, address information and the new-SIM cost. The listed internet recharge prices do not establish tourist eligibility.
Does NoveSIM supply local calls in Guadeloupe?
No. We provide data-only travel eSIM plans, without a local number, traditional calls or SMS. Internet calling and messaging apps can use the data connection.
Final Recommendation
Start your mobile internet in Guadeloupe decision with your existing tariff. Keep it if the included roaming allowance and charges suit the stay; there is no need to buy another plan simply because you are travelling.
If you need an alternative, compare the complete local SIM purchase with a compatible data-only eSIM. Verify visitor eligibility for local services, and distinguish recharge prices from new-line costs.
Whichever service you choose, check the active data line and usable balance on arrival. Keep the tariff confirmation and essential travel information accessible offline so that a setup delay does not disrupt your first journey.
